Role Summary:The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to lead IP analytics for aviation engines, develop and execute IP strategy for business, and affect short-term and some long-term business goalsEssential Responsibilities: Creation and protection of strategic and tactical IP assets. Searching, analyzing, and compiling technical, commercial, and patent information using a variety of free and subscribed databases which will provide information to technologists, technology management, and legal personnel. Providing various types of analyses, such as those for patent landscape, patentability of inventions, SWOT analysis, freedom to practice, competitive assessment, and patent invalidation, portfolio analysis, gap analysis & monetizing Carry out searches and analyses to support decision-making around technology and IP. Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments Participate in teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviewsQualifications/Requirements: BE in Mechanical/Thermal/Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of experience OR ME/PhD with 2-3 years of experience in mechanical design/gas turbines/ aircraft engine architecture Familiarity with Aircraft/Jet engine, Gas turbine thermal systems including cooling methods, component design, engine systems, Gas turbine rotors, Structures and manufacturing The successful candidate must possess a strong analytical skill set, including expertise in statistical analysis. Should be comfortable moving between different technical domain areas as per the business needs. Clarity of thought and analytical thinking capability Ability to work with global teams & possess excellent communication skills Demonstrated influencing skills to engage technologists as well as business leaders at various stages of a program Passion for excellence in professional endeavors with unyielding integrity Should possess good oral and written communication skills, Analytical abilities, passion for technology and excellenceDesired Characteristics: Gas Turbine System or Aircraft Engine architecture knowledge Familiarity with Gas Turbines or Aircraft Engines. Prior experience in mechanical design of static/rotating parts, seals, thermal system design Prior experience in searching using various databases, such as Thomson Innovation, Patbase, Innography, PatsnapStrong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to influence others and lead small teams. Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
